      Telus may buy Mobilicity  B.C.'s largest company, Telus Corp., is in discussions to purchase pesky wireless provider Mobilicity, according to a Globe and Mail report.  Late last year, Telus tried without success for an injunction to stop Mobilicity's advertising campaign. 

      RBC apologizes to staff  In an "open letter" to Canadians, Royal Bank of Canada president and CEO Gordon Nixon has apologized to employees whose jobs were outsourced to temporary foreign workers. He promises to review "supplier arrangements and policies with a continued focus on Canadian jobs and prosperity".

      NDP MLA closes RBC account  Coquitlam-Maillardville NDP MLA Diane Thorne has tweeted that she closed her RBC account. This came after union pension funds threatened to move $1 billion away from RBC because of its outsourcing.

      B.C. NDP releases fiscal plan  NDP Leader Adrian Dix plans to generate an additional $311 million in revenue in 2013-14, $733 million in 2014-15, and $988 million in 2015-16, according to the party's new fiscal plan. Under the NDP government, corporate income tax will rise from 11 to 12 percent, slightly higher taxes will be imposed on high-income earners, and a corporation capital tax will be imposed on financial institutions, including credit unions.

      Cancer agency criticizes oncologist  The B.C. Cancer Agency has claimed that oncologist Suresh Katakkar's use of incorrect methods or misdiagnosis may have played a role in the deaths of at least four people. The full report is available here. Katakkar, who used to work in Prince George, explained his treatments last July in an email to patients.

      Union links death to base closure  The Union of Canadian Transportation Employees has claimed that a crew member on a cargo ship in English Bay may not have died of a heart attack had the Conservative government kept the Kitsilano Coast Guard Station open.

      John Furlong's wife dies  CBC News has reported that Deborah Sharp Furlong, the wife of former Vanoc CEO John Furlong, has died in a car accident in Ireland. Sharp Furlong worked in the B.C. film industry on TV series such as Cold Squad, Arctic Air, and Search and Rescue.

      John Kerry warns North Korea  U.S. secretary of state John Kerry says it would be a "huge mistake" for North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un to launch a mission, saying it would "further isolate his people who are desperate for food".

      Russia opposes U.S. blacklist  Russian president Vladimir Putin's spokesperson has declared that the U.S. will harm relations if it publishes a list of Russians who are blacklisted from entering America. The list is linked to the death of Russian lawyer Sergei Magnitsky in jail in 2009.

      Gold price falls  For the first time since July 2011, the price of gold has fallen below $1,500.

      Kris Humphries will miss court date  TMZ.com has reported that basketball player Kris Humphries won't be able to make it to a mandatory settlement conference in Los Angeles with his wife Kim Kardashian because he's stuck in New York.
