Rush deliveries to be made with new postage stamps
Just in time for its long-overdue induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame at L.A.'s Nokia Theatre tonight, Rush has been honoured with another tribute.
Canada Post has announced that the Ontario prog-rock greats will have their own postage stamp available starting July 19. It's part of a series that also includes stamps honouring fellow Canuck music legends the Guess Who, the Tragically Hip, and...wait for it...Beau Dommage.
"This year's series features Canadian bands that have shaped the music industry in Canada," says Jim Phillips, Canada Post's Director of Stamp Services (and maybe the world's biggest Beau Dommage fan). "Each band has achieved national acclaim, along with international radio airtime and extensive tours."
Of course, putting the logo from Rush's 2112 album on their stamp makes total sense, since it was released back in 1976, at the height of snail mail's popularity. Now all three people who still post letters can relive their rockin' teenage years.
(Rush plays Vancouver's Rogers Arena July 26).

So, it's not the logo from 212 really. Neil's described it as the band's logo. The Starman is the band's identity.
Personally, I think they should have used the Moving Pictures cover.
