Do you know how to cook everything?

If not, you might want to meet the man who does.

Mark Bittman wrote the New York Times bestselling bible How to Cook Everything, and has just come out with a new iPad app based on it, called Cooking Basics. His “Minimalist” column ran in the New York Times for over 13 years. This week, he launched a new monthly column called The Flexitarian

Over the years, Bittman has gradually dropped a lot of meat from his diet and started cooking with more veggies. This lifestyle change resulted in his new book, VB6: Eat Vegan Before 6:00 to Lose Weight and Restore Your Health...for Good.

Bittman will be in Vancouver next month to promote VB6. There's two chances to meet him. On Saturday, May 11 at 3 p.m., he'll be doing a meet-and-greet and book signing at Barbara-Jo's Books To Cooks. The event costs $30 and includes vegan refreshments and a signed copy of the book; call  604-688-6755 to register.

On the evening of May 11 at 6:30 p.m., he'll be the guest of honour at a dinner in a private room at Blue Water CafeChef Frank Pabst will be serving a four-course menu with wines paired by wine director Andrea Vescovi. Tickets for this event cost $210 inclusive of wine, tax, gratuity, and a signed copy of VB6. Reserve through Stephan Cachard at Stephan@bluewatercafe.net or 604-688-8078.
