The Georgia Straight proudly sponsors Rafal Blechacz's piano recital
The Vancouver Chopin Society concludes its 15th season with a piano recital featuring Rafal Blechacz at the UBC’s Chan Centre for the Performing Arts (6265 Crescent Road) on May 12 at 3 p.m.
Blechacz is a 27-year-old classical pianist from Poland, who took the classical music world by storm when he won all five first-place prizes at the 15th International Frederick Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw in 2005. Blechacz has recorded five studio albums and has appeared with top international orchestras.
In Vancouver, Blechacz will perform works by Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, and Szymanowski. The concert will be followed by a special reception for the artist.
Tickets to Rafal Blechacz’s piano recital are $30 to $40. Tickets can be purchased online, by phone at 1-855-985-2787, or in-person at the Chan Centre box office.

I have been waiting for 60 years to hear Chopin played this way. Home at last! But why on earth cannot DG let Rafal B record some more Chopin? Fair enough that he doesn't want to be known as 'just another Chopin pianist', but there is simply no one else who gets as close as he does to what this composer is about
