      Whistler's secrecy condemned  The Canadian Association of Journalists has given its annual Code of Silence Award to Whistler's municipal government. It came for exerting a level of control over information—including details about the Olympics—exceeding that of the Stephen Harper government. 

      Gordon Wilson backs Christy Clark  Former B.C. Liberal leader and NDP cabinet minister Gordon Wilson has endorsed Christy Clark for premier and rejoined his old party. Wilson told Global TV that he made up his mind after Adrian Dix came out against Kinder Morgan's proposal to twin its pipeline. 

      Point Grey race heats up  David Eby says climate change and environmental issues are the top concern of voters in his Vancouver–Point Grey constituency, which is represented by Premier Christy Clark in the legislature. 

      Vancouver Canucks thumped  Fans on open-line radio shows last night were calling for the firing of Canucks general manager Mike Gillis and coach Alain Vigneault after the team lost 5-2 in San Jose. The Sharks lead the best-of-seven series 3-0.

      Vancouver teacher cyberstalked  CBC News has reported a harrowing case of harassment against Vancouver resident Lee David Clayworth. He has been cyberstalked for two-and-a-half years by a former girlfriend in Malaysia, where he was a teacher.

      Driver in Surrey crash dies  Langley resident Daniel Gore, whose minivan smashed into a vehicle carrying five members of the Sachdeva family, has died in hospital. There was a memorial on May 3 for the three women and two children killed in the other vehicle.

      Traffic circle removed  This morning, a City of Vancouver work crew is demolishing a traffic circle along the 10th Avenue Bikeway at Pine Street. This came after ICBC concluded that it was one of city's most dangerous intersections for cyclists.

      Chemicals in kids products  Environmental Health News has published an exposé alleging that many large corporations are refusing to comply with laws around the use of chemicals in children's products.

      Government responds to Al Gore  Natural Resources Minister Joe Oliver has lashed out to the Globe and Mail against former U.S. vice president Al Gore for referring to the Alberta tar sands as an "open sewer". 

      Syrian rebels accused of chemical attacks  UN human-rights investigator Carla Del Ponte has declared that Syrian president Bashar al-Assad's opponents have used sarin gas. More information is available here.

      Neo-Nazi trial in Germany  German police are under fire as the trial begins against Beate Zschaepe, who is accused of being part of a neo-Nazi cell that murdered up to 10 people, mostly of Turkish ancestry. Authorities had previously blamed the murders on Turkish organized crime.

      Aerosmith won't perform after bomb scare  TMZ.com has reported that Aerosmith has cancelled a concert in Jakarta, Indonesia. It came after police seized explosives from suspected militants—though it's unclear if there were any threats against the band.
