      Vancouver celebrates drawers, doodlers, and scribblers of all ages during the fourth-annual Vancouver Draw Down on Saturday (June 15). The day-long even feature 35 free workshops at various locations across the city, including community centres, parks, schools, art galleries, cemeteries, and more.

      Highlights of this year’s festival include Collaborative Strathcona Dragon Drawing, which takes place at the Strathcona Community Centre (601 Keefer Street) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Artist Janice Wu will help lead a community drawing workshop that will result in imaginary dragons.

      Over at Elm Park (41st Avenue and Larch Street) between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m., artist Germaine Koh will host Field Lines at Kerrisdale, a large-scale art project involving field-marking equipment and a fun game. Meanwhile, cartoon enthusiasts will want to visit Mount Pleasant Community Centre (1 Kingsway) between 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. for Comic Jam at Mount Pleasant, where illustrator Any Mori will help put together a continuous cartoon tale.

      At the Kensington Community Centre (5175 Dumfries Street), artist Yoko Tomita will help attendees unleash their inner beasts during Creatures of Comforts at Kensington from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Over at the Roundhouse Community Centre (181 Roundhouse Mews), join artist Ian Forbes in making a 100-foot-long drawing during The Coast, Vancouver, the Roundhouse and You.

      Vancouver Art Gallery attendees can draw inspiration from the current exhibit, Grand Hotel, and design your own dream hotel. Doodlers near Main Street are invited to submit creative portraits of the Main Street Poodle during the In the Shadow of the Poodle event at Main Street at 18th Avenue between 1 and 4 p.m.
