Michael Jackson bedroom photos show King of Pop had many crowns

In more ways that one, it's a bedroom fit for a king.

The Los Angeles Police Department recently released photos of the room where Michael Jackson died in June 2009. King Louix XIV would be impressed by the King of Pop's taste in interior decorating, the bedroom having a faux-French-palace vibe to it.

The King of Rock 'n' Roll, meanwhile would be wowed by the late Jackson's appetite for prescription pills. Shots show the bedroom well-stocked with bottles of all sorts, as well as rows of Propofol, the latter of which killed the 50-year-old singer after he was given a fatal dose by Dr. Conrad Murray.

Making a serious case that he was pop's all-time King of the Bizarre, Jackson is also revealed to have a thing for kids. That's admittedly nothing new. What's strange though is that he evidently was drawn to more than Macaulay Culkin. Shown on Jackson's chest of drawers are pictures of numerous unidentified babies. There's also banner with a laughing kid that reads Sweet Baby.

Other things shown include giant oxygen bottles, handwritten lists of nearby 24-hour pharmacies, and IV poles.

In related Jackson news, the president of concert mega-promoter AEG Live LLC has suggested that Jackson wasn't the drug-addled man-child that he's often been portrayed to be. Perhaps he hasn't seen the pictures of his apartment.

AEG is being sued by Jackson's mother, who contends the company hired Murray to get the singer ready for a series of high-profile "This Is It" comeback shows scheduled in 2009 at London's O2 Arena.

Randy Philips, president of AEG, told a jury today that, in meetings to plan the concerts, he found Jackson to be a "sophisticated man who had control of his life" and a "forceful businessman". He also said that he saw no evidence that the singer had a prescription drug problem.

Later on in the trial today, however, Philips admitted that things didn't always go smoothly with Jackson. Philips had trouble getting Jackson to a high-profile press conference to announce the tour, the singer appearing to be hung over when he showed up a couple hours late.

In an email to AEG higher-ups that day after the press conference, Philips wrote: "He is an emotionally paralyzed mess riddled with self-loathing and doubt now that it is show time."

I wish that we knew nothing about Michael Jackson personally. It's not only his quite obvious vicious criminality but his overweening, desperate, preening vulgarity that make him a candidate for the most repugnant public figure since Bathory. If we didn't hear about any of that, then I could just appreciate his incredible music.

It does make one wonder how much we could enjoy Shakespeare or Tolstoy if TMZ had been around to give us the insider scoop!
