Nearly a year after announcing a relocation, Miku restaurant opens today (June 24) at 70-200 Granville Street. The upscale Japanese restaurant specializing in aburi-style sushi takes over the waterfront restaurant spot that previously housed Aqua Riva.

Owned by Aburi Restaurants Canada, which also owns Minami restaurant in Yaletown, Miku will focus on fresh seafood dishes, sashimi, and sake. The menu is a collaboration between corporate executive chef Kazuya Matsuoka and Miku restaurant executive chef Kazuhiro Hayashi. From the bar, diners can sip on creative cocktails and over 25 varieties of sake.

The expansive 210-seat restaurant includes a dining room, U-shaped bar, sushi bar, and patio with views of Burrard Inlet. Similar to sister restaurant Minami, the interior of Miku features hand-painted murals by Japanese artist Hideki Kimura.
