The controversial 2010 film Dunno Y…Na Jaane Kyon tackled taboo subjects by portraying the first gay kiss in mainstream Indian cinema.

The sequel was announced on May 25 in Mumbai with the release of a teaser trailer.

Although the first film was a dramatic feature directed by Sanjay Sharma, the sequel will be a romcom directed by Norwegian director Tonje Gjevjon, with dialogue in Hindi, English, and Norwegian, and shot in Norway.

The two male leads, Kapil Sharma (the director's brother and the film's screenwriter) and Yuvraaj Parashar, are set to reprise their roles.

Parashar's parents had threatened to disown him for starring in the first film, which depicted a gay male model in love with a married man and included man-to-man lovemaking scenes.

However, in a complete turnabout, Parashar's father attended the teaser trailer launch for the sequel.

On June 22, the production announced that Zeenat Aman will make her return to Hindi cinema by playing a Pakistani character in the film.
