Canadians have an appetite for food TV and culinary competitions. Top Chef Canada—one of Food Network Canada’s most popular programs—recently wrapped up its third season and the CBC is currently asking to submit their signature recipe for Recipe to Riches.

CTV is adding a new cooking competition to the mix with the Canadian debut of MasterChef Canada in 2014. MasterChef is a culinary contest for amateur cooks based on the British version that ran on BBC from 1990 to 2001. Currently, Canadians can watch the U.S. version on FOX hosted by Gordon Ramsey. On MasterChef, 50 competitors face individual and team cooking challenges, hoping not to be eliminated from the show.

Until July 25, Canadian home cooks who have never worked as a professional chef are encouraged to apply online. Applicants must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents and must be at least 19 years of age. The application asks questions like, “What is your signature dish?”, “What are your cooking strengths?”, and “What is your greatest ambition in life?”

Applicants are also required to send in a recent photo and have the option of uploading an audition video as well.
