Homer St. Cafe set to open July 2 in Vancouver
A charming new restaurant is set to open July 2 at 898 Homer Street.
The Homer St. Cafe and Bar is a unique space that seats 100 patrons in various nooks and crannies. It straddles two buildings: the historic Homer Building and new Beasley building in Yaletown. Plenty of natural light, antique tiled floors, reclaimed factory windows, and marble tables and countertops give it a European bistro feel.
Marc-André Choquette, who presides over Tableau Bar Bistro, is Homer St.'s executive chef, and chef Tret Jordan is in the kitchen. The menu features chicken cooked on the fire-engine red Rotisol Grande Flame Olympia rotisserie. (For more on the culinary concept and the kitchen and bar team, click here.)
According to a news release, the Homer Building was at various times "a dye works, a steam cleaner, and an ice delivery shop. In 1952, the Smithe Coffee Bar opened, later known as the Homer Café, a local dining landmark. The restoration of the building's original windows, grand staircase, signature domed roofs and metal clad cornice and exterior was completed in 2010."
Below, here are more photos from the new space taken at a media preview yesterday.

"A charming new restaurant"?
Hmm-sounds like this description might have been lifted directly from a media release by the management?
Let the paying customers decide how "charming" it is
