Following Salt Tasting Room's success in Gastown, a second Salt Tasting Room opens today (July 9)—this time in Kitsilano.

The location is a departure for the Heather Hospitality Group, which has nine establishments downtown, clustered around Gastown. According to a news release, however, owner Sean Heather has ties to Kitsilano. He spent his first four years in Vancouver—22 years ago—managing West Broadway's Benny’s Bagels.

Located at 2585 West Broadway, Salt has the same concept as the Blood Alley bar, specializing in artisanal cheese, small-batch cured meats, wines, beers, and sherries. Guests order a tasting plate from a changing chalkboard selection of 10 cheeses, 10 meats and 10 condiments.

The Broadway-and-Trafalgar restaurant seats 45 people, in addition to a 12-person patio. It's open Tuesday to Sunday from 4 p.m. to midnight. Lunch hours are slated for later this summer, and brunch for the fall.

The venue also houses a production kitchen that serves other Heather Hospitality Group establishments such as Bitter Tasting Room

Today, the B.C. Restaurant & Foodservices Association announced that Heather will be inducted into the B.C. Restaurant Hall of Fame later this year.
