The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen is set to come to the small screen

Already a popular graphic-novel series and a feature-length film, Alan Moore creation The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen is set to come to TV, courtesy of Fox.

The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen takes place in a slightly tweaked Victorian-age world where literary heavyweights Allan Quartermain, Mina Harker, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, the Invisible Man, and Captain Nemo team up to battle dastardly villains.

According to Wired, Fox has "ordered up a 'put pilot' of a new adaptation of the graphic novel series, which means the studio has already agreed to air it, screenplay unseen, or else incur penalties."

Do they not remember what happened with the cringe-inducing 2003 crapfest?

Given Fox's less-than-stellar rate of success with sci-fi and fantasy shows (hem hem, Firefly, hem hem), I'm not getting my hopes up about this one. I'm guessing that they won't portray the Invisible Man's beginnings as a pedophile, though.
