Lions Gate distances itself from Orson Scott Card controversy

It appears that production company Lions Gate is taking the high road in yet an another episode of the drama surrounding the upcoming Ender's Game movie and the violently anti-LGBT views of author Orson Scott Card.

In a recent press release, Lions Gate said that the company is "proud to have recognized same-sex unions and domestic partnerships within its employee benefits policies for many years." Further down, it also states that they "obviously do not agree with the personal views of Orson Scott Card and those of the National Organization for Marriage."

Card is a board member of the National Organization for Marriage, which is known for its virulent pro-traditional-marriage stance, and is very outspoken about his private views on homosexuality.

While it's lovely to see a studio make an announcement like this, I don't think it will have much impact at the box office.
