The Georgia Straight proudly sponsors the Vancouver International Women in Film Festival

      The 10th annual Vancouver International Women in Film Festival takes place at Vancity Theatre (1181 Seymour Street) from March 4 to 8.

      The festival will open with Shonali Bose’s film, Margarita, with a Straw, an inspiring love story and portrait of a woman discovering what she wants and how to get it.

      On March 8, coinciding with International Women’s Day, Yukon-based director Suzanne Crocker’s documentary, All the Time in the World, will be screened. There will also be an awards ceremony and presentation of the Legacy Award winning films.

      Other films featured at the festival include Lady Be Good, A 5-Star, Behind Closed Doors, The Lesson, Seguir Viviendo, Highway of Tears, and Relative Happiness.

      Local short films featured at the festival include Flash, Through the Pane, Bedbugs: A Musical Love Story, Mattress, The Timekeeper, Very Good Dirt, Freedom Babies, My Favourite Leg, In the Deep, Instance, The Goodbye Girl, Nostalgia, Happy and Gay, Vie, and Chanterelle Rain.

      Tickets to the Vancouver International Women in Film Festival can be purchased online in advance.
