Sven Baertschi was expected to become an NHL star when Calgary drafted him in the first round, 13th overall, in 2011.

But the former Portland Winterhawks star hasn't exactly ignited the Flames, scoring just eight goals over the past four seasons.

Today, the Vancouver Canucks picked up the 22-year-old left winger in return for a 2015 second-round draft pick.

Baertschi stands 5'11' and weighs 190 pounds. He was born in Bern, Switzerland.

Meanwhile, Canucks head coach Willie Desjardins told reporters today that his team already has good chemistry.

"They all feel pretty positive," he said. "One of the reasons the Sedins are playing with so much passion is because they believe there's a chance this team can do well."

Desjardins didn't comment on Baertschi, but he had good things to say about another newly acquired player, Cory Conacher.
