Looks like Vancouver's indie art scene is taking the Windy City by storm this summer.

Chicago's Rotofugi Gallery has a show on till August 4 called Northern Lights, an exhibit of Canadian art that features some local favourites.

Among the offerings are Ryan Heshka's gouache-and-mixed-media-on-paper images of retro vixens in superhero masks; Camilla d'Errico's oil-on-wood wide-eyed, anime-styled waifs; and former Georgia Straight artist Mark Pilon's robo-girl 'toons.

In fact, this show is so cool, it makes us yearn for a time when there were more shows like this in Van City. With places like the old Moonbase Gallery long gone, the summertime lowbrow art parties seem to have disappeared with them.
