      Expect more bus pass-ups  TransLink CEO Ian Jarvis has told CKNW Radio that transit users can expect to see more full buses passing them by because of a funding shortage.

      Bike-share approved  Vancouver councillors with the exception of George Affleck and Elizabeth Ball havevoted in favour of spending $6 million up front for a new bike-share program, which will be overseen by Portland-based Alta Bicycle Share.

      Crowded council chamber  More than 200 people have signed up to speak to Vancouver city council about a proposal to introduce bike lanes and reduce traffic access along Point Grey Road west of Macdonald Street. Many attended last night's meeting.

      Surrey examines cycling  News 1130 has reported that Surrey transportation manager Jaime Boan hopes to dramatically increase bike lanes in that city—going from 450 kilometres now to 700 kilometres within 20 years.

      Billion-dollar B.C. deficit  After the B.C. Liberals maintained that the budget was balanced during the election campaign, the provincial government has revealed that there was a $1.15-billion shortfall last year. It blamed lower-than-expected resource revenues.

      Carbon tax praised  University of Ottawa professor Stewart Elgie has written a study suggesting that B.C.'s carbon tax has not harmed the provincial economy. He noted that fuel consumption fell by almost 19 percent per capita, yet the gross domestic product did not suffer in comparison to that of other provinces.

      Bob Rae chairs aboriginal partnership  Former Liberal leader Bob Rae has become chair of FN (PTP) Group Limited Partnership, which is a consortium of 15 First Nations that signed an agreement with Pacific Trail Pipelines Limited Partnership. It wants to build a pipeline that would transport fracked natural gas to an LNG project in Kitimat.

      Egyptian army wants protests  Egypt's army boss, Gen. Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, has called on people to take to the streets to protest "violence and potential terrorism". It comes in response to demonstrations by the Muslim Brotherhood against the ouster of President Mohammed Morsi.

      Bure jersey will be retired  The Vancouver Canucks have announced that the Number 10 jersey worn by the Russian Rocket, Pavel Bure, will hang from the rafters of Rogers Arena alongside those of former captains Markus Naslund, Stan Smyl, and Trevor Linden.

      Royal baby gets a name  Prince William and Kate Middleton have announced the name of their newborn prince as George Alexander Louis. The infant was born yesterday at a hospital in Cornwall.

      Schizophrenia and Amanda Bynes  TMZ has reported that doctors are testing to see if troubled actor Amanda Bynes has schizophrenia, which is a devastating mental illness affecting one percent of the population.
