Apple Watch to be released in Canada on April 24

      The most-anticipated smartwatch since, er, the Samsung Galaxy Gear will be released in Canada and eight other countries on April 24.

      The Apple Watch will be available in two sizes: 38 mm and 42 mm. 

      It will come in three styles: the Apple Watch Sport ($449 and $519), the Apple Watch ($699 to $1,459), and the 18-karat gold Apple Watch Edition ($13,000 and up).

      “Apple Watch begins a new chapter in the way we relate to technology and we think our customers are going to love it,” Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO, stated in a news release. “We can’t wait for people to start wearing Apple Watch to easily access information that matters, to interact with the world, and to live a better day by being more aware of their daily activity than ever before.”

      Accordng to the release, the Apple Watch "requires" an iPhone 5 or a newer model running iOS version 8.2 or later.

      The wearable device will provide users with another way to "send messages, read email and answer calls to your iPhone".

      Online preorders start April 10.
