The Box of Treasures: Gifts from the Supernatural takes place at Bill Reid Gallery of Northwest Coast Art (639 Hornby Street) now until September 27.

The exhibit gives audiences a glimpse into Kwakwaka’wakw Potlatches through the works of Beau Dick and other master carvers.

“The cultural resilience of the Potlatch speaks to the brilliant and powerful knowledge and celebration it embodies and represents,” Kwiaahwah Jones, exhibit curator, stated in a news release. “The Kwakwaka’wakw today celebrate and practice their culture openly without fear of arrest, celebrating their timeless knowledge of what it means to be part of humanity, and the gifts and responsibilities that awareness creates.”

The Bill Reid Gallery is open Wednesdays to Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily from May 18 to September 6.
