Teen murdered in Vancouver  Police responded early this morning to a Japanese restaurant at Kingsway and Slocan Street after a 17-year-old was stabbed. He later died from his wounds.

Double stabbing in Surrey  The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is at 154 Street and 100 Avenue in Surrey after a double stabbing. One person was killed and another is in critical condition.

Ex-fugitive will plead guilty  North Vancouver animal-rights activist Rebecca Rubin will plead guilty in U.S. District Court in Portland in connection with what's been called "the most extensive eco-terrorism case in U.S. history". She turned herself in last year after arson attacks on U.S. government wild-horse corrals.

Kelowna fire anniversary  It's the 10th anniversary of a lightning strike that caused the Okanagan Park wildfire, which destroyed 239 buildings and forced the evacuation of 33,000 residents.

Auditor general eyes Senate  Parliament's financial watchdog, Michael Ferguson, is reportedly planning to audit expenses of all senators. This comes after a Deloitte audit revealed Sen. Pamela Wallin charged taxpayers for $120,000 for unacceptable travel costs.

Regulator pursues Conrad Black  The Ontario Securities Commission will hold a preliminary hearing concerning former Hollinger Inc. and Hollinger International directors, including former chairman Conrad Black. The market regulator alleges that they were involved in a scheme to profit from noncompete payments.

More killings in Egypt  Another 17 people have reportedly died in Egypt after gunfire erupted in Cairo between police and security officials.

Nobel laureate's relative punished   The brother-in-law of China's jailed Nobel Peace Prize winner Liu Xiaobo will also remain in jail after an appeal court upheld an 11-year prison sentence. The U.S. State Department has claimed that Liu Hiu's fraud charges were "politically motivated".

Athlete defends antigay law  Russian pole vaulter Yelena Isinbayeva spoke up in defence of her country's antigay legislation after winning gold at the World Athletic Championships.

Flyers' captain suffers golf injury  Claude Giroux underwent surgery on his right index finger after a golf club shattered, ripping into his hand.
