The South Asian Family Association presents Desi Dhamaka, a free, outdoor, family event on August 31. Activities run at Surrey’s Holland Park from 2 to 11 p.m.

Desi Dhamaka celebrates cultural song and dance. This year’s headlining performance is Jassi Sidhu, a Bhangra singer from England. Sidhu will be joined by the dholis of Surrey Folk Arts Club and the M-I-B Roadshow for a full hour of Punjabi pop music and dancing.

Also on the roster at Desi Dhamaka is an assortment of Indian food, including butter chicken, tandoori naan, samosas, biryani, donairs, and more. The festival also hosts a roti-making competition.

The festival will close with a screening of Dil Bole Hadippa under the stars.
