The Georgia Straight proudly sponsors Skylark Music’s Ironworks Sessions

      Skylark Music presents the Ironworks Sessions from April 2 to May 8 at the Ironworks (235 Alexander Street).

      Flutist Lorna McGhee and pianist Jane Coop open the series with a performance on April 2 at 8 p.m. The concert will feature young Iranian-American composer Reza Vali’s work Folksong, along with a specially created video by Victor Ballesteros. Other pieces include those by Bartok, Dohnanyi, JS Bach, and Martinů.

      On April 17, pianist Jane Coop will perform a solo program that includes pieces by Bach and Claude Debussy. The concert will also showcase a special composition by Vancouver composer Robert Pritchard.

      The final concert on May 8 pairs violinist Dale Barltrop with pianist Jane Coop. Music includes works by Bach, Stephen Chatman, and Joe Chinadamo. The performance will also feature Olivier Messiaen’s Louange à l'Immortalité de Jésus accompanied by a video from Samm Moore.

      Tickets to the Ironwork Sessions are $30 for adults and $20 for students. A three-show pass is $75 for adults and $50 for students. Tickets can be purchased online in advance.
