Jackie Cronhelm spent the better part of a rainy Friday afternoon (March 20) outside the Vancouver Art Gallery for Boink Day, an annual initiative held on the first day of spring that helps raise donations for the Greater Vancouver Food Bank.

Her eight-year-old twins decided they wanted to make a contribution by pogoing, and Cronhelm said she was happy to bear the wet weather and support them. After bouncing for well over an hour and exceeding 4,000 pogo jumps, the two children raised more than $400.

"I've asked them to go but they don't want to quit until one falls off," Cronhelm said.

The event, which began at 7 a.m., drew adult participants as well as children.

The Greater Vancouver Food Bank is at the Vancouver Art Gallery today until 6 p.m. Every bounce raises 10 cents for the Food Bank. Volunteers are also on hand to collect non-perishable items and cash donations.
