Suspicious package shuts down Hornby Street in downtown Vancouver

This just in from Vancouver police:

You may recall that an old Walkman was the "suspicious package" recently found on the SeaBus.

So, what will it be this time?

      Perhaps a rotary phone?

Update (1:20 p.m.): So it wasn't a laser disc, but a replica bomb.

A VPD news release states: "Around 10:30 a.m., police responded to 1068 Hornby Street after a citizen reported seeing a suspicious package in a planter in the exterior courtyard of the building. As a precaution, the VPD’s Explosive Disposal Unit was called to the scene. Investigators have determined that the package did appear to be a replica explosive device, but did not constitute a threat to anyone’s safety."

Wasn't Stephen Harper downtown this weekend?

A replica explosive device... ya right. Notice how they refuse to release a photo or description? That's because it was something even more innocuous than the Sony Walkman they found on the Seabus. The police evacuated a building and shut down the streets. Now they are embarrassed at their over-reaction so they try to tell us it was a "replica explosive device". What a laugh.
