Okay stoners, Super Troopers 2 is a go!

It's nothing that ever comes up over dinner, but I always liked the largely indefensible stoner comedy Super Troopers.

      Apparently I'm not alone.

With the 2001 flick now consigned to the mists of time and the toilet of our cultural memory, a sequel—naturally!—is in the works. And you wanna know why? Because of YOU, dear public.

When the Broken Lizard comedy troupe launched an Indiegogo campaign to finance Super Troopers 2 on Tuesday, it took roughly a minute (or maybe 24 hours) for fans to raise the $2 million required to get the "barebones" version of the movie made.

The campaign runs for the rest of the month. According to the handy guide provided below, we're well on track for the "best movie ever" (to the tune of about 18 grand, at this point.)

For those of you whose sole memory of Super Troopers is the haunting image of Keven Heffernen getting hazed in a shower with his pubis hanging out all over the place—the folks at chubarama.net have a screen shot for you.

Meanwhile, here's some interesting trivia, or not. When I interviewed the great Shakespearean actor Brian Cox for the 2012 film version of Corolianus, I couldn't help but ask how and why he ended up in a tiny and determinedly offensive American movie that was maybe two steps below National Lampoon's Animal House in terms of elevating the careers of great Shakespearean actors.

He didn't answer, but he did say: "It’s a very funny movie. It makes me laugh."

      Stoner!

I love this movie, it's so quotable and also felt like hanging with people you've known a long time even though you just met them

Interesting. I don't remember any hazing scene, but I do remember the syrup drinking.
