Police chief Jim Chu keeps political watchers guessing about next move

There’s no Jim Chu in the lineup of candidates for the nomination of the Conservative party in the new riding of Vancouver Granville.

This may only fuel further speculation about the future plans of the outgoing Vancouver police chief.

There is animated talk in political circles that federal Liberals may have already beaten the Conservatives in enlisting Chu as a star candidate in this year’s national election.

If Chu is not in contention in Vancouver Granville, the question now is whether he’ll make a go in either Vancouver Kingsway or Vancouver East.

The other question is, with what party? Or, is he jumping to politics at all?

At a January 23 press conference after he announced his retirement, Chu acknowledged that he’s had “political approaches over the years”.

Conservatives in Vancouver Granville will nominate their candidate on April 7.

In the running are former Vancouver councillor Jennifer Clarke, lawyer Cheryl Chang, and investments manager Erinn Broshko.

Clarke, Chang and Broshko will deliver speeches at a Conservative party gathering Monday (March 30) at 7 p.m. at the VanDusen Botanical Garden.

Yeah, this is the only person in Vancouver except Mayor Moonbeam who didn't know there was going to be a riot after game 7 of the Stanley Cup. Worse than that was the halfass response to the idiots destroying our city. Lame!!!
