Lululemon's ABC men's pants provide more breathing room to the bottom line

Vancouver-based lululemon athletica appears to have struck a chord with its ABC pants.

The CEO, Laurent Potdevin, is quoted by Bloomberg as saying that these trousers helped propel a 16 percent increase in same-store sales on the men's side of the business in the last quarter.

According to the retailing giant, ABC stands for "anti-ball crushing". Yes, the company is cashing in on a looser fit to protect men's sperm counts.

We can just imagine guys all over North America running out to buy these pants at $128 to avoid going infertile.

In case you're wondering, Lulu's first men's store opened in New York on November 28.

In the last fiscal year ending on February 1, lululemon revenues reached $1.8 billion, up 13 percent over the previous year. That's the good news.

Net income was $239 million, down from $280 million the previous year. This meant that the diluted earnings per share on the year was $1.66, down from $1.91 at year-end 2014. That's the bad news.

Vancouver billionaire and company founder Chip Wilson dumped a bunch of his shares last year, so he's probably not too troubled by this.
