If you think the Fukushima nuclear accident hasn't affected seafood, watch this video

Today, Japanese prime minister Shinzo Abe delivered one of the whoppers of the year when he told people that the Fukushima nuclear accident is under control.

He probably felt this was a necessary lie to help Tokyo secure the International Olympic Committee's approval to host the 2020 Summer Games.

But what about the Pacific Ocean, which is where radioactive water leaks from the crippled power plant end up?

Dr. Michael Gregor is a medical doctor and director of public health and animal agriculture at the Humane Society of the United States.

In the video above, he examines the impact of Fukushima's radioactive fallout on seafood.

Dr. Gregor has been published in many journals and was one of the experts who helped Oprah Winfrey's defence when she was accused of defaming the meat industry.

      Put it in perspective.

Seawater has a natural concentration of Uranium of .003 mg per litre. Polonium results from a natural decay series and is also in seawater naturally.

You have to realize that it is now possible to detect elements with unbelievable sensitivity, so just saying Polonium was 'detected' means nothing.

The huge volume of the ocean relative to the tiny amount of radioactive elements released at Fukushima worries me not a bit here in North America. I wouldn't camp on the reactor in Japan, but I would have people recall that there was a Uranium bomb exploded over Hiroshima and a Plutonium bomb exploded over Nagasaki. It hasn't been 10,000 years yet these cities today support populations of over a million and half a million souls respectively.

In Japan 44 children has symptom of cancer after 3.11.2011.
This is the clear evidence that East Japan was polluted by radioactivity
Japan Government does not permit this reality.

The sealant on those storage tanks is designed only to last 5 years. TEPCO itself admits that those "temporary" tanks will only last about five years. Some of them have to be going on 2 years old by now.

Do a google search for "Official Radiation Report." Constant updates with newslinks on Fukushima plus they offer resources for products and things that actually remove radiation from your body. A valuable resource! Might ad "AIDS" to the search term to find it because it is a non-profit organization that puts it out called AIDS Research and Assistance.

      @Lee L,
No one is debating the fact that there are millions of people living in Nagasaki and Hiroshima today. But that is not the point. The concern is how many excess cancers exist (or will exist) because of those atomic bombs being dropped on those cities. The nuclear bomb experiments that took place in Nevada has caused excess cancers in people living in that area, so why wouldn't you expect to see excess cancers in Hiroshima and Nagasaki?

South Korea has banned ALL Fukushima Seafood

      Yonhapnews (national/2013/09/06/86/0301000000AEN20130906002251320F) html

SEOUL, Sept. 6 (Yonhap) -- South Korea expanded its import ban on Japan's fisheries products to include all fisheries products from the radiation-hit Fukushima and seven other adjacent prefectures, the government said Friday. The (original) import ban was later expanded to include 50 products from Fukushima and seven other nearby prefectures. They are Ibaraki, Gunma, Miyagi, Iwate, Tochigi, Chiba and Aomori prefectures."Under the new measure, all fisheries products from this region will be banned regardless of whether they are contaminated or not," the ministry said.

The Fukushima disaster was / is of such dreadful proportions that I think all people are better off being safe than sorry.

I will not ever visit Japan. I eat no nuts out of California & I no longer eat seafood ... coz those suckers can swim!
