Is this art or vandalism?
My colleague Miranda Nelson is on a one-woman crusade to clean up East Van.
Let's just say it's not on par with the work of legendary graffiti artist and painter Jean-Michel Basquiat.
The haphazard writing is splashed over a Telus structure at the corner of East 4th Avenue and Victoria Drive—and it's been left unattended for a month, according to Quinn.
In a tweet directed at me, Quinn stated: "To be fair to #Telus, they're usually pretty good about cleaning it up."
Hey, a few might even think that this graffiti is art. No doubt, many others would disagree.
It's certainly more elaborate than the simplistic scribblings of the local tagger who goes by the name of Mohinder. And in some circles, he's considered an artist for his ability to arouse so much discussion, passion, and even hatred over what he's doing.
