      The popular Word on the Street festival is getting a makeover for 2013. The annual literary festival, which has been rebranded as Word Vancouver, will expand from one to five days, and take over venue across Vancouver.

      This year, Word Vancouver will run from September 25 to 29, at Carnegie Centre, Banyen Books & Sound, the Cottage Bistro, and Historic Joy Kogawa House. The festival will cumulate in a large one-day event at the Vancouver Public Library central branch (350 West Georgia Street) on the final day. The free all-ages festival features Canadian authors and book and magazine exhibitors, as well as musical performances, author readings, panel discussions, and workshops.

      Writers in attendance include Peter Darbyshire, Cynthia Flood, Rawi Hage, Irene Watts, Adam Hart, Dennis Foon, Arno Kopecky, Mary Novik, Daniel Kalla, Mark Leiren-Young, Carellin Brooks, Shaena Lambert, Janie Chang, bill bissett, Amber Dawn, Evelyn Lau, Brad Cran, George Stanley, Moreka Jolar & Heidi Scheifley, Julie Flett, Robert Heidbreder, Gary Kent, Caroline Adderson, and Rachelle Delaney.

      The schedule of events is as follows: September 25 venue to be announced; September 26 from 1 to 9 p.m. at Carnegie Centre, 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Banyen Books, and 7 to 9:30 p.m. at the Cottage Bistro; September 27 from 7:30 to 9:30 at the Historic Joy Kogawa House; September 28 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Vancouver Public Library central branch; and September 29 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Library Square.
