Vancouver's second annual Capture Photography Festival launched at the Satellite Gallery on Thursday (April 2), with the opening of the festival's premier exhibition, Images that Speak.

Curated by Christopher Eamon, the exhibition features the work of 10 local and international artists and plays on the idea of photographic manipulation.

"I've worked through different artists that manipulate their images, so in a way they take away your normal depictive realisitic image and add some new meaning to them, by manipulating them in the darkroom or by painting on the negative, and even by running them through a printing press," said Eamon of some of the images featured in the exhibition.

Artists featured include Ryan Peter, Stephen Waddell, and filmmaker Steve McQueen.

Images that Speak will be showing at the Satellite Gallery at 560 Seymour Street until May 16. The festival, which includes over 100 exhbitions and public art installations, runs until April 29. Event listings and more can be found here
