Women to HBO: Less boobs, more dongs

    1 of 2 2 of 2

I can certainly sympathize with the straight women in this College Humor video.

We are constantly bombarded with images of female beauty and nudity.

ARGH! Damn you, straight-male gaze! (Pointless hour-long double-fisted shake at the ceiling, here. Ow. Now I can barely type.)

Although images of male beauty and nudity have certainly increased, and is much more visible than it used to be in the past, it's nowhere near the same level as images of women.

Particularly when it comes to boobs versus…dongs.

That's why the straight women in the following video have pointed out the gaping inequality between how often boobs are shown on HBO shows like Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire, and Deadwood compared to...wieners.

And we're not talking Oscar Meyer's either, damnit!

I'm sure many gay male viewers would appreciate an increase in more mancandy as well.

(I actually don't care so much for dongs as much as views of manboobs. Muscular ones, that is.)

One more thing to consider: How often do you see an unattractive female character romantically paired with a gorgeous male character? I rest my case.

I'm going to start up the Demand More Mancandy campaign. Hashtag it, if you support the cause.

I'm a straight female, and no, I don't want to see more dongs, thanks.

The women in this video might need to get out more often instead of waiting for dongs to appear on TV.

I'm a straight male and I definitely don't need to see more dongs either, thanks.

This is just a joke, right? These women can't be for real, right?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure most women have zero interest in seeing, say, Steve Buscemi's rod.

Not the same at all, most places men and woman can go topless. nowhere can you roll around with your wang out, or a girl walking around with no panties on. And please every channel on tv has guys topless, your just trying to give a little and get it all in return.Your also plummeting in the girls are more mature then guys category as of late, first your joining us fighting in cages now your obsessing over perfect bodies, screaming for nudity lol, your racing us to the bottom ladies.

While I never really thought about whether I want to see more male nudity or not, I really don't want to see more naked females either. But if its going to be there, then it should be more equal. More male pecs and dongs would be nice since we've seen so many female boobs and bodies. I've got to admit when I saw that French dude, Guy, on Sex & the City movie do that outdoor shower scene, whoa, I was blown away that was awesome!!

      boobs DO NOT equal dongs

Why do women viewers seem to equate boobs = dongs? Chest nudity is not the same as full-on genitalia. So HBO shows lots of boobs, big deal. They show a lot of shirtless men too (although yes, they could probably show more of that). But no dongs, please. Unless you significantly increase the amount of vag as well.

Oh i could do without seeing dongs and hairy sweaty backs as well.

But agree there are a lot of boobs on HBO.
Suggest they change their name so there is no confusion as to what they are about:

Ya stop with the cleavage already! I don't want to see your nipple tuberocities, and I'm scared to death to see you come out of a shower sans face paint. Keep your dongs in your pants. People, stop being stupid, and get a life.

I'm curious--is this line of argument about what we don't want to see or what we think is fair? Because there's an important difference. Personally, I find seeing fat people on TV or anywhere really offensive, at the same time I recognize that a lot of people are fat and so they will want to flame me for this view.

I think it's really interesting that decisions about nudity ("I don't want to see it") are assumed to be persuasive but decisions about fat people wearing shorts, or spandex, or bikinis for example are not. Everyone assumes we should be ashamed about nudity but not about any other aspect of appearance.

Why will people the people who vigorously defend wearing hijabs or bikinis run the other way when it comes to nudity rights? Why is one situation inevitably about "rights" and the other about "responsibility"?
