Homeless in Vancouver: Going out on a limb with some ants

    1 of 3 2 of 3

I’ve taken to stopping by a certain tree in an alley just off Oak Street near West Broadway Avenue in order to watch a group of ants go about their business.

The tree growing beside a low-rise apartment building is providing the ants with easy access to a second-floor unit, via a limb, which brushes against the deck of the unit’s second-floor balcony.

There are always ants making the two-way trip but I have no idea what they’re are up to. The ones I see hurrying back and forth along the tree limb are never carrying anything away from the apartment.

I doubt the ants call the place home. Perhaps they call it a restaurant, where they all go to get a good home-style meal.

      Focus!
