In a case of life imitating art—or rather a Hollywood action film—Vancouver police have arrested a 52-year-old Richmond resident who hit Vancouver actor Ryan Reynolds with his car just before 7 p.m. on April 10.

Reynolds, who is in town filming the X-Men spinoff Deadpool, was approached by a photographer in a secured underground parking lot of the Shangri-La Hotel in downtown Vancouver.

The driver struck Reynolds with his car as he left the lot. Reynolds did not sustain any significant injuries from contact with the car.

According to a VPD news release, police identified the driver after speaking with Reynolds and witnesses, and obtaining security footage. They arrested him on April 12. He is currently in custody and police are recommending charges of intimidation.

Because Reynolds was not injured, police need to speak with him to determine whether or not to proceed with charges, according to CTV.

Reynolds was back on set filming Deadpool on April 11.

Showing he hadn't lost his sense of humour, he declined interviews about the incident, unless The Beachcombers went back on air.

Meanwhile, he praised some fan art that depicted him as Deadpool with appropriate Vancouver paraphernalia.
