The Vancouver International Film Festival presents Cinemanovels as part of its 2013 Canadian Images program. Cinemanovels screens at the Rio Theatre (1660 East Broadway) on October 2 at 6:30 p.m. and at SFU Woodwards (149 West Hastings Street) on October 10 at 1:15 p.m.

The Canadian film directed by Terry Miles connects three stories: a stale relationship, a woman’s spiritual awakening, and a distant father who puts art before his family. Grace (Lauren Lee Smith) struggles with a dissatisfying life and marriage with husband Ben (Ben Cotton). When Grace’s father, a filmmaker, dies, Grace decides to curate a retrospective of his films—which brings her in contact with Adam (Kett Turton), a neighbour and long-time admirer of Grace’s father’s films.

Screenings of Cinemanovels are dedicated to the memory of Georgia Straight film critic and VIFF friend Ian Caddell.

Tickets to screenings can be purchased online in advance or in person at the Vancity Theatre box office (1181 Seymour Street) between 12 and 7 p.m.
