Harper rivals Justin Trudeau and Tom Mulcair focus on different priorities

Today out of curiosity, I went to the Twitter streams of the two men who have the best chance of replacing Stephen Harper as prime minister.

For Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau, the big event was greeting Indian prime minister Narendra Modi.

"A heartfelt thank you to @narendramodi for being so warm & friendly towards my daughter Ella-Grace at today's meeting," Trudeau tweeted.

For NDP Leader Thomas Mulcair, the focus was on CBC cuts and Toyota's plan to move a vehicle-assembly plant to Mexico.

Meanwhile, Green Party of Canada Leader Elizabeth May also mentioned how upset she is about the CBC cuts on her Twitter stream.

She one-upped Mulcair by noting that two former CBC broadcasters—Jo-Ann Roberts and Claire Martin—are part of the Green campaign to fight for public broadcasting.

Roberts is the nominated candidate in Victoria, whereas Martin will run in North Vancouver.

"The two men who have the best chance..." is a stretch: Mulcair has no chance of becoming PM and pretending otherwise shows a tenuous grasp on reality. Trudeau is focussing on is doing exactly as he is told by his party masters and getting the keys to Sussex Drive. Mulcair is focussing on being leader of the opposition because he knows that is the best he can hope for. Harpo knows he doesn't have to do much to keep his sub-40% "majority" because he can rely upon 33% of the popular vote from his drones and only needs a 4-6% penetration of undecideds to keep control.
