Do your interior-design tastes run toward the palatial? Do you dream of creating your own French chateau-style courtyard or chandelier-bedecked ballroom?

Then you might want to head to the Luxury Home & Design Show to see how the one percent really lives on May 1 to 3.

Yes, the second annual show converts the Vancouver Convention Centre into an opulent 45,000-square-foot estate, complete with a 12-foot facade created by Design Marque, formal gardens, and a fountain.

Among the chi-chi exhibitors is intricate Chinoiserie and reverse-glass painter Peter Gorman, whose works grace the halls of  royal palaces throughout the Middle East, as well as ritzy hotels and a Royal Carribbean cruiseship.

Also on hand: the floral elegance of England’s de Gournay, whose hand-painted frescos have graced dresses worn by Kate Middleton; avant-garde furniture by France’s iconic Roche Bobois, including the modular Mah Jong sofa, recently reinvented by French designer Jean Paul Gaultier; and a state-of-the-art kitchen by Georgie-winning designer Janie Hungerford, working for V6B Design Group.

Others on the design roster include Sarah Gallop Design; Joy Chao of John Henshaw Architect; Reisa Pollard, founder of Beyond Beige Interior Design; and Frits de Vries, founder of Frits de Vries Architect.

Did we mention tickets are $100? Or $150 for the full VIP treatment. In other words, enough for an IKEA TV bench for the rest of us.
