The hockey phenomenon who scored the golden goal for Canada in the 2010 Winter Olympics will be wearing the Canadian flag on his jersey again.

Sidney Crosby will join the Canadian men's team at the world hockey championship tournament, which takes place in the Czech Republic from May 1 to 17.

Crosby, 27, became eligible when his Pittsburgh Penguins were knocked out of the first round of the playoffs by the New York Rangers.

It will be the Nova Scotia native's seventh time representing his country in international ice-hockey competitions.

Crosby was captain of Team Canada's gold-winning performances in the Vancouver and Sochi Olympics.

Team Canada's roster in the Czech Republic includes three British Columbians: goalie Martin Jones, defenceman Tyson Barrrie, and forward Ryan Nugent-Hopkins.

There's no word yet on whether the Sedin twins, Alex Edler, or Eddie Lack will play for Sweden now that the Canucks are out of the NHL playoffs.

They say it's best to get back up flying after a crash to keep confidence in yourself. Good for 87. Might be a tougher to peel the Canuck Swedes off the floor after their spirits were flattened by a road roller.
