Can of Orange Crush left at Jack Layton’s grave after Alberta NDP election victory

The Orange Crush brand of soda is getting all sorts of free press again after Rachel Notley and the NDP won a majority government in the recent Alberta election.

You'll recall that a bottle of the sweet carbonated beverage was raised by federal NDP leader Jack Layton at many a rally during the 2011 national election, which saw his party catapulted into the role of Official Opposition.

Layton died in 2011, but if he was still alive, he'd surely be celebrating this week.

According to a photo posted on Twitter, someone decided to offer their congratulations to Layton regarding the Alberta results by leaving a can of Orange Crush at his grave in the Toronto Necropolis.

Layton wasn't the only dead politician whose grave was visited by well-wishers after the Alberta election.

News of the election results reached the grave of Grant Notley, the premier-designate's father and former Alberta NDP leader.

Grant Notley died in a plane crash in 1984.

not much media coverage when I left some lube and a couple of handi-wipes there. Good old St. Jack: the only man who could get exonerated by the left for being in a rub & tug when the cops raided the place.
