Dadbod trend riles some women

    1 of 1 2 of 1

This morning, I read an amusing article by Jeremy Allingham on the CBC website about the so-called dadbod trend. It was prompted by an American university student's article expressing a preference for roly-poly guys over the gym crowd.

One woman quoted in Allingham's story said at first she was sad. Then got angry because of what she saw was a double standard.

That was followed by similar comment from local feminist Meghan Murphy, who decried how celebrity culture pushes the notion that women who give birth should return to their original look. Men, however, are beginning to receive admiration for being flabby.

"Under #dadbod you find a bunch of kind-of-fat dudes showing off their guts, under #mombod it's exercise and weight-loss tips," Allingham writes.

Sooner or later, I suspect someone will take this up with B.C. Human Rights Tribunal or write a master's dissertation on all of this. Only then will justice prevail.

Stop comparing bods...if you have a bod enjoy it, other people's bods are none of your business...a good rule for many things.

What double standard? Who cares what the media promote . Lots of us out there admire women who are not model thin. I would be more attraced to a woman 25 pounds over her ideal, weight , than one 15 pounds under

As usual the feminists hijack the dialogue and try to grab, grab, grab. They are single-minded and selfish. Here they had a chance to nudge body image for both sexes to a healthier direction, but instead they just whine and pout. They have to be the most negative group of all time.
