Help a puppy become a guide dog

Last week, I was thinking we are so fortunate to have an organization like B.C. & Alberta Guide Dogs among us.

The registered charity is actively looking for voluntary puppy raisers. Puppies start living with them at seven weeks and stay until they're ready for training at 15 months. So if you love dogs and have the space in your home, this summer you might want to consider helping out. A puppy raiser has all the fun of raising a puppy without bearing the cost.

That's because B.C. & Alberta Guide Dogs will take care of veterinary care, dog food, and other expenses.

On June 6, the organization is having a fundraising dinner and auction at the swanky Fairmont Hotel Vancouver. Tickets are on sale for $100 each and the theme for the night is James Bond.

Of course, you'll get to have dinner with those four-legged starry dogs.
