When they met by chance on a night bus five years ago, Kyle Kozma and Jessica Matthew had no idea that they would end up starting a clothing line together.

The two button-up enthusiasts have created a line of classic shirts for women under their label, Power of My People, to reflect the style of those that choose to wear them.

Created out of natural fabrics like cotton and linen, their shirts are designed to be long-lasting staples of the wardrobe. According to Kozma and Matthew, their brand aesthetic "encapsulates low maintenance style with tomboy influences and refined appeal".

Power of My People will be hosting its first pop-up shop at Scott Landon's Antiques (2341 Granville Street) from Thursday (May 14) until Sunday (May 17) between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. each day.

Visitors to the shop are asked to bring any gently worn women's casual business attire as a donation, which Kozma and Matthew will in turn be donating to Dress for Success, a non-profit organization that works to provide "interview suits and confidence boosts" to low-income women.

Each customer that brings in a donation will be entered into a draw to win a garment from their summer line.

In addition, $10 from every shirt sold will also be donated to the organization.

The idea for the name of their line grew out of an ongoing documentary photo project that, according to Kozma, "celebrates the art of doing something".

Some of their subjects have donated door prizes that will be given away throughout the weekend.
