Some people in Vancouver are under the impression that condo marketer Bob Rennie and developer Rob Macdonald don't get along with one another.

This perception has been created, in part, by Macdonald's deep-pocketed support for the Vancouver NPA.

After all, Macdonald Development Corp. donated $960,000 to the party to try to defeat Mayor Gregor Robertson in 2011, and another $125,000 in 2014.

Rennie, on the other hand, has been one of the city's most vocal supporters of Mayor Gregor Robertson and Vision Vancouver.

But today, they appeared like old friends at an Urban Development Institute luncheon at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, where Rennie spoke about the real-estate market.

After Rennie's speech, Macdonald went on-stage to thank his ertswhile opponent in municipal politics.

“Imagine being one of the busiest people in this town, trying to make a few bucks, and then having to set aside over 200 hours of very valuable time to assemble information to give to our industry all for free," Macdonald said. "That is what Bob Rennie does for us. Bob, you’re an amazing man. You’re a credit to our city. You’re a credit to our province. And you are a credit to our great country. Our industry has the highest respect for you."

After hearing those remarks, Rennie gave Macdonald a hug.

And no, Macdonald didn't have anything positive to say about the mayor.

      Credit?!

A credit to our city?! He's a salesman with a cookiecutter formula to sell off parcels of desirable land. An easy job to do - and he's made millions while driving up housing prices to a point where ordinary citizens no longer have the ability to afford a little bit of property in vancouver. a Credit to our country?! Lets give him a statue. Or, name a park in his honour - would that be ironic?
