      CONCERTS

      Los Angeles electronica group Awolnation (pictured above) plays tunes from latest album RUN, with guests Family of the Year and Irontom, at the Commodore Ballroom.

      The City of Bhangra Festival, which connects cultural communities through music and song, opens at various Metro Vancouver venues.

      New Jersey- and Belgium-based death metal bands Fit for an Autopsy and Aborted take the stage at the Rickshaw Theatre.

      The Fortune Sound Club hosts the Sound of Music Fundraiser, which features music by Evil Ebenezer, Def 3, Aro, Kids, Chin Injeti and the Lifetimes, Claire Mortifee, Tonye Aganaba, David Morin, Slow Jam Sundays, DJ Barlee, Flipout and Game Genies.

      Steam Whistle UNSIGNED features performances by High Ends, Actors, and Blank Cinema. Held at the Cobalt.

      FOOD AND DRINK

      Highlights of Wine in the Garden include 75 wines from Summerland's Bottleneck Drive wineries and food by Truffles Fine Foods. Held at the VanDusen Botanical Garden.

      The Vancouver Club hosts Unlocked, an exploration of Australian wines and Australian-inspired cuisine.

      Okanagan Spring presents a brewmasters' dinner featuring a four-course meal paired with a selection of beers. Held at Mamie Taylor's.

      FORUMS

      Highlights of a Buddhism and wellbeing conference include a keynote address by Pierce Salguero. Held at St. John's College Lounge.

      TAKE ACTION

      Tri-City Greendrinks presents a discussion of B.C.'s real energy choices. Held at the Gallery Bistro.

      COMEDY

      The Fictionals present Improv Against Humanity, a comedy show inspired by cult-hit card game Cards Against Humanity. Held at the Vogue Theatre.

      Standup comedian Kevin Banner, known for appearing at the Northwest Comedy Fest and Blue Bridge Comedy Festival, headlines at the Comedy MIX.

      LITERARY EVENTS

      At the Cultch, poets and performers take on the subject of youth culture, from high school to Tiger Beat crushes.

      THEATRE

      As part of Boca Del Lupo's micro-performance series, Australia's Terrapin Puppet Theatre presents an interactive theatre experience at the Anderson Street Space.

      MOVIES

      Beamont Studios hosts a screening of Circle of Life, about jade artisans around the world.

      At Chapel Arts, five presenters from students to award-winning professionals show a project based on narrative, topic, or single visual style.

      The Vancouver Public Library Central Branch hosts a screening of Valentine Road, about an eighth-grade student who shot a classmate at point-blank range.
