Gregor Robertson reminds us to vote on last day of transit referendum

    1 of 1 2 of 1

If you haven't already voted in the transit and Pattullo Bridge referendum, it's safe to assume you aren't going to.

Nevertheless, Vision Vancouver thought it was worth sending out an email to their supporters this morning (May 29), urging them to vote.

Here's the text of the message, signed by His Worship Mayor Gregor Robertson:

This is it. Today is the last day you can vote in the Transit and Transportation Referendum.

Did you get your ballot in?

If you haven't, here's what you need to do. You need to drop it off at one of the 9 Elections BC plebiscite offices in Metro Vancouver.

You need to do this by 8PM TONIGHT.

In Vancouver, there are two places you can go:

      Chinatown Plaza, at 180 Keefer

City Square Mall, at 12th and Cambie, across from City Hall

For months, you've been reading our emails about the importance of the transit referendum. About why we need a yes vote to help support a new Broadway Subway, 11 new B-Line routes, late-night bus service and improvements to our roads and bridges.

It's been a long campaign. Thank you for all your support in getting the word out, talking to friends and family, and saying you support Vision's work to champion better transit, not just in Vancouver but for the entire region.

      Thanks,

      Gregor

      Seriously?!?

How wonderfully non-partisan Mayor Gillespie! I am hoping for a "No" victory, confident, and the understanding from various governments that Translink has to be culled, not hopeful. I am certain that not much will change regardless of the vote. Neither the promises of Transit Utopia nor the predictions of doom will come to fruition. Gregor's developer friends will have to get their 30+ storey towers along Broadway some other way but make no mistake: they will get them.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Fortunately There's still 2.5 hrs. (at this time) to get out and be all democratic!

Look I know the plebiscite is over, but while Gregor plays silly bugger about congestion with him and his council pinching off and in one case actually closing a major historic thoroughfare to UBC, Point Grey Road, thereby creating even more gridlock, pollution, noise, and congestion on the other limited routes and adjacent side streets, then demanding more taxes and levies to deal with the problem he made worse, he comes across as a hypocritical goof who thinks we're oblivious to the obvious.

We'll be watching for the next chapter of this densification farce.
