Disgraced Republican Dennis Hastert received a seriously creepy phone call on C-SPAN

You might have noticed that former U.S. House speaker Dennis Hastert was indicted yesterday for giving $3.5 million in hush money to a male student he allegedly sexually abused in a previous career as a high school wrestling coach in Illinois.

While the U.S. media performs painful-looking contortions to express its shock and dismay over the scandal, others might remember that the man who would have become President (if Bush and Cheney had been felled by pretzel and massive coronary, respectively) was once identified by whistleblower Sibel Edmonds for his alleged involvement in activity relating to espionage, money laundering, and heroin distribution in Chicago.

That Hastert might have been a sexual predator on top of all this comes as little surprise to those of us who suspect the entire western political establishment is locked in a delicate system of mutual compromise and blackmail—as the UK has been learning recently to its widespread horror.

Assuming they're real, how do these crimes remain concealed for so long? It seems they don't, really. Here’s what happened to “Denny” when he was taking phone calls on C-SPAN last year.
