Forage restaurant in the Listel Hotel on Robson Street used to be one of former Georgia Straight wine columnist Jurgen Gothe's hangouts in Vancouver.

He loved the on-tap wines and executive chef Chris Whittaker's chowder.

So it seems fitting that the dining establishment would pay homage to Gothe by highlighting one of his quotes on the window.

"Our tribute to the late, great Jurgen Gothe," Forage declares on its Twitter feed.

Gothe, also a former host of the CBC DiscDrive program, died on April 9 after a long bout with cancer.

Whittaker emphasizes sustainable ingredients, even growing his own vegetables that are served in the casual and comfortable restaurant.

Gothe's quote reflects Whittaker's efforts to create a sense of community in the West End.
