Liberals slam Conservatives for using ISIS propaganda to attack Justin Trudeau

    1 of 2 2 of 2

The latest attack ad from the Conservative Party of Canada's propaganda machine takes a page from ISIS.

Okay, not a page, but images from the militant group's often gruesome videos.

The target of the ad is Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau, who said this week that he would end Canada's bombing mission against ISIS in Iraq and Syria.

You know, if he manages to kick Prime Minister Stephen Harper out of 24 Sussex Drive and leap frog the NDP's Tom Mulcair in the coming federal election.

Justin Trudeau is the target of the latest Conservative attack ad.

Today (June 26), Cory Hann, director of communications for the Conservatives, sent the following email to party supporters:

On Tuesday, ISIS terrorists drowned, shot, and burned alive three groups of prisoners.

That same day, Justin Trudeau promised to stop all bombing missions against ISIS in Iraq and Syria.

When Trudeau was pressed by a reporter on when he'd support military action if he wouldn't support bombing a terrorist regime as ghastly as ISIS, he called the question "nonsensical."

      That's not proven leadership.

Prime Minister Harper knows that ISIS is a genocidal death cult that must be forcefully opposed. And he has made Canada a leader in the international coalition against them.

Justin Trudeau has proven once again that he is just not ready to take on the serious job of leading Canada on the international stage.

Worse, he will undo all the hard work our Conservative Party has done to make Canada a moral leader in the world.

The world is a dangerous place – and the threat of terrorism is a present reality, not some future possibility. Justin Trudeau would ease up on terrorists who have named Canada as a target.

I know this sounds crazy – but click here to see it for yourself. Then let us know you agree that Justin Trudeau’s just not ready for the serious job of protecting Canadians.

The Conservatives are inviting people to electronically sign a statement that summarizes the above anti-Trudeau message.

Jeremy Broadhurst, national director of the Liberals, followed up with an email to his party's supporters (and this journalist, who subscribes to party mailing lists):

Not much the Harper Conservatives do can shock me anymore.

But this week they sunk to a new low even I couldn’t believe, and as LPC National Director, it's my job to make sure you know about it.

You and I know the Harper Conservatives will do and say anything to attack Justin Trudeau, and now they are using actual footage from ISIS propaganda videos to score cheap political points.

Unlike the Harper Conservatives, I’m not going to spread ISIS propaganda footage – but you can imagine how disturbing it is.

Stephen, Justin Trudeau will bring real change to Canadian politics, and Harper will go to any length to stop that from happening.

It’s up to you to put a stop to that style of politics – will you donate now to help end the Harper decade?

The Liberals are hoping their members will be mad enough to donate $3 or "what you can" to the party warchest.

...what are Justin's plans to deal with ISIS? Three barbaric attacks just today. This group are savages from the dark ages, they don't do politics and they don't negotiate, so I'm not sure how Justin would appease them?

      Disgusting ad.
It feeds the opposition narrative that the Conservatives are not fit to govern.

Harper will continue to discredit Trudeau in any way he can. He hid in a closet in the gun fight on parliament hill. He stood up in parliament and said if the enemy shoot at us we will shoot back and kill them. bravado. his party wanted the 35s to replace the aging and old useless CF18s and then he turned around and sent these very same aircraft into war and extended the war. This brave PM never once attended any of the repat ceremonies at CFB Trenton when our war dead came home in coffins yet he attended the Cpls and WOs funerals as they were photo ops. The average age of the premiers of the provincesanada is approx 40 years old. Harper is 56. So if Trudeau is too young perhaps Harper is too old, just too old to lead a young Canada at least right now. cheers Dale Dirks

The way all of the 60s radicalism was toned down was by flooding the campuses with acid, that way the kids could realize that fucking and partying was way more fun than some lame political trip.

Too bad chemical warfare is illegal!

Using ISIS as a way of questioning Tudeau's credibility is just plain fear mongering.

I don't understand why the Lieberals are complaining. All they did was quote the pretty boy who really isn't ready. The idea that Trudeau even thinks he can reason with such zealots shows that he doesn't have a clue!!!

The best way to conquer backward people is with drugs and rock and roll, which everyone likes. Sorry, war is a stupid way to do this. There is a reason that USA doesn't have revolutions or that much organized violence---lots of stupid lone wolf violence, but nothing like ISIS. It's because there's good access to drugs and parties. People only get into cults like ISIS when they don't have drugs and parties to busy themselves with.

And if you're attacking them, instead of giving them something more fun to do, then they have the right to fight back, which is a big win for nobody except munitions manufacturers.
