3:01 Pick Me Up: Krush's "House Arrest"

    1 of 3 2 of 3

Let’s face it: 3 p.m. is the cruellest time of the workday. The morning latte has worn off, and the post-lunch crash has you staggering around like an extra from a George A. Romero flick. That’s why, each weekday at 3:01 p.m., we present you with a video hand-picked to kick-start your heart.

Because the beat is the law, we know you're going to dig this.

This was back in 1987, when "exclusive American fashion" was a possibility.

"House Arrest" by U.K. dance music group Krush, featuring vocalist Ruth Joy, was one of the first House music singles to crack the U.K. top 40. Along with Bomb the Bass and S'Express, more club-oriented acts followed suit in crossing over to the mainstream and contributing to the growth of the British dance scene.

"House Arrest", which fused pop and hip-hop influences, was one of the earlier British singles to feature sampling.

Not much information is available about Krush, who only released two or three singles before its members went about their various ways to pursue other projects.

Nonetheless, we have this jaunty little dance track, showcasing samples spelled out on screen karaoke-style with Joy's gentle dance moves to follow (if you're looking for love).
